Watchmaker tools on bench

Why Tickwright

The difference is in what we don't skip

Most watch repair shops will service your watch. Fewer will tell you what they found, show you their work, and let you decide at each step. That is what we do.

Eight things that set the bench apart

Written assessment

Every piece gets a written condition note before any quote is given.

Owner approval at each step

Nothing proceeds beyond the agreed scope without your decision.

Timing machine verification

All serviced movements are tested across positions before casing.

Era-correct lubricants

Older calibres receive oils suited to their tolerances, not modern substitutes.

Photographic records

Movement photographs accompany vintage work as part of the handback package.

Staged restoration

Vintage pieces are restored across sessions with your sign-off at each stage.

Central location

128 Sukhumvit Road — minutes from BTS Asok, easy to reach from anywhere in the city.

Coverage on labour

All completed service work carries a coverage period noted in your condition document.

Expertise

People who know what they're opening

Our head watchmaker has spent years working across Swiss and Japanese mechanical movements, including pocket watches and vintage dress pieces from the mid-twentieth century. That breadth of practical experience means unusual calibres don't require guesswork — they require the right reference, the right oil, and patience.

We keep a working library of calibre references, original service manuals, and parts catalogues. When a movement is opened, the work is guided by the manufacturer's own specifications wherever they exist.

  • Swiss and Japanese calibre work, hand-wound and automatic
  • Pocket watch experience including English lever and cylinder escapements
  • Access to original calibre documentation and parts catalogues
  • Honest referrals if a piece falls outside our scope
  • Swiss-standard timing machine with multi-position readout
  • Ultrasonic cleaning with watchmaking-grade solution
  • Humidity-controlled parts and watch storage
  • Crystal polishing equipment suited to mineral and sapphire materials

Tools

The right equipment for the work

Watch servicing done without proper equipment is often worse than no servicing at all. A movement cleaned inadequately retains residues that act on fresh lubricants. A crystal polished with the wrong compound becomes hazed. We invested in the tools the work requires rather than finding shortcuts.

Communication

You are kept informed throughout

The most common complaint about watch repair is not hearing from the workshop for weeks and then receiving an unexpected bill. At Tickwright, the assessment is communicated before any work begins. Unexpected findings are shared with photographs before any additional work is undertaken. You choose what happens to your watch.

For vintage restorations, we provide progress updates at each stage of a multi-session project so you can follow along rather than simply wait.

  • Written assessment before quote
  • Unexpected findings shared before any additional charge
  • Restoration progress notes at each session
  • Reply to enquiries within one working day
  • Mechanical service from ฿4,100 — all-in, no hidden additions
  • Parts quoted separately and approved before ordering
  • Coverage period on labour included at no additional charge
  • No charge if you decline to proceed after assessment

Pricing

Transparent pricing, no surprises

Service prices are published. Parts required beyond the scope of a standard service are quoted before ordering. If the assessment reveals a problem that changes the cost, you decide whether to continue — the watch can always be returned without charge if you prefer not to proceed.

What's Distinctive

What you won't find at most repair shops

Calibre reference library

We keep original service documentation and parts references for hundreds of calibres, including obscure mid-century Swiss movements rarely seen in Bangkok workshops.

Staged sign-off for restoration

The Vintage Restoration Program works across sessions with explicit owner approval before each stage proceeds. No other workshop in the area offers this level of involvement.

No work without consent

If the assessment reveals something that changes the original quote, we stop and call you. The watch can be returned at no charge if you decide not to proceed after seeing the findings.

Parts sourcing network

For vintage pieces requiring specific components, we work through supplier networks to locate period-appropriate parts — mainsprings, stems, crystals, and in some cases original-era dials.
